Community Play
in San Leandro

Every kid deserves an awesome place to play.

Juniper Corner is a San Leandro-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to providing opportunities for local families to learn, play and grow within their community. We are currently ramping up to open a permanent playspace location in downtown San Leandro: think a small-scale interactive children’s museum mixed with an inspiring indoor playground! Juniper Corner also hosts regular community events for young kids and their families, which are all free and open to the public. Our team is passionate about creating innovative, joyful and educational play for children ages 0-5. We believe that Juniper Corner can be a beacon of connection and support for families, bringing the community together through imagination and joy.

Community Pop-Ups

Join us for kid and toddler activities around San Leandro in 2024! These pop-ups are free, open to the public, and have been a big hit with kids and families. Each event includes interactive science activities, toddler arts and crafts, tumbling blocks for crawling kiddos, a ball pit, sensory bins, trains, free coffee for grown-ups, and much more! We take pride in the fact that these events are engaging and fun for kids and families of all ages, genders, languages, abilities and interests. Please join us!

The next Pop-Up will be:
Saturday, December 14th
San Leandro Main Library: 300 Estudillo Ave
10:00AM - 1:00PM

Permanent Location

In its final form, Juniper Corner will be open for daily drop-in play at a storefront location in Downtown San Leandro. There will be various areas for interactive imaginative play, such a train track table, a kid-sized pretend kitchen and giant building blocks, as well as active physical play, like small climbing structures, balance beams, slides and tunnels. While most of the larger installations will be permanent, some activities will rotate weekly or seasonally, like the books in a cozy reading nook or an area featuring kid-friendly STEAM concepts: craft projects, sensory bins, magnet tiles, a light table with plant samples, stamps, collage projects, marble ramps, and much more!

We hope that Juniper Corner can serve as a connection point for parents and families, providing a place for caregivers to meet each other and learn about resources in the community. The space will be calm, beautiful and filled with art, and there will be coffee and healthy snacks for sale. We are committed to including all families, and drop-in admission will be based on a “pay what you can” sliding scale.
